What is a Fresh 48?
Fresh 48 sessions are perfect for the family that would like all the intimate details of their baby’s first hours of life captured, without having their labor and delivery documented. You will be buzzing with all kinds of emotion after the birth of your baby, and the details of the day can quickly be forgotten. Fresh 48 sessions will help connect you back to the memories, feels, and smells of this very cherished day.
When and where does this take place?
These sessions take place wherever you birthed your child (home, hospital or birthing center.)
Important things to consider.
Please be sure you receive permission to have photos taken if you’re birthing at a hospital or birthing center. Almost everyone allows for photographers to be present, but its a good idea to double check!
How is this different than a newborn session?
Fresh 48 sessions are meant to capture your baby’s first experiences. These images are real, raw, and in the moment. Often times, these images may include baby’s first bath, diaper change, breastfeeding, snuggles, meeting a sibling or grandparents, or just the new and intimate love you share with your baby. I won’t be asking you to pose, moving that one piece of hair off your forehead, or encouraging you to find an outfit to put baby in. I want you to just be.
Be present. Be in love. Just be.
Newborn photos, on the other hand, often have an element of purpose to them; headbands, hats, swaddle blankets all carefully situated to give you a specific look and feel.
How long does a session last?
Approximately an hour.
How do I schedule a Fresh 48?
Its best to contact me a few months prior to your delivery date. Since baby’s often decide on their own birthday, its difficult to lock in a specific date for these sessions. However, upon contacting me, I’ll make note of your little one’s arrival and provide you with my contact information to notify me when your little bug makes his/her arrival. These sessions are best done the day of delivery.
What should I wear or pack?
Your little nugget will look perfect in a fresh diaper, white onesie, or swaddle blanket. Parents should wear what you feel most comfortable in, but is recommended for Dads to wear something neutral like a gray or black t-shirt. And don’t forget to pack your chap-stick or anything else you’d like to freshen up with, should you chose.
What if I need to cancel? Or you cannot make it?
A $99 deposit is required to reserve your session. Cancellations are allowed up to 2 weeks in advance of your expected due date.. Any cancellations after that are nonrefundable.
If you deliver outside of the expect time-frame (weeks or months early!) or you encounter a medical emergency, your $99 deposit will be refunded.
